My Style (Coming Fall 2008)
My Style, targeted to begin in the 2008-09 school year in selected grades in the lower school, is an educational experience that uses the power of very small student teacher ratios, approximately 1:4, in core subject classes to facilitate the academic development of students with learning differences and/or attention-related difficulties who have not been performing at a college preparatory level. Students in the My Style program may take their English, mathematics, science, social science, and foreign language courses in a My Style classroom led by a teacher adept at differentiating instruction to meet the needs of these special learners. Students in the My Style program may be transitioned back to the traditional classroom in specific curriculum areas as adequate progress is made. In addition, these students will continue to participate in “specials” such as art, music and physical education with their peers.
To qualify for the My Style program, a psycho-educational evaluation conducted by a licensed psychologist must be made available to the Lower School Student Support Team and the IMPACT staff. In concert with our One God, One Family, One Choice philosophy, current students, students who were formerly at Mount Pisgah, and siblings of current students will be given preference for entrance into this program.
If you have questions about any of these services, contact Dr. Smyth, at the IMPACT office at 678-336-3364.
