Colloquia
Colloquia include any of the various academic seminars sponsored by IMPACT. These seminars may be for students, parents or teachers and will be announced as they are scheduled. Some of the planned colloquia include:
- Pre-AP Summer Seminar. Summer session of Pre-AP preparation focusing on skill and background knowledge development in AP Chemistry, Biology, Calculus, Spanish, and French.
- Cornell Note Taking Seminars for Teachers. Teachers learn to teach students to take notes using the process developed at the University of Cornell.
- SAT Test Preparation. These SAT Preparation classes are currently designed as one weeknight and one weekend day that help students individually prepare for the SAT.
- Dr. Smyth’s Research Group. Students will be recruited to participate in an extracurricular activity that identifies and researches a topic, designs and executes an experiment or investigation, collects data, analyzes results, writes an article for presentation and submits the article for publication.
- Organizational and Study Skills Seminars for students. Students will learn note-taking strategies, organizational methods and study skills in a 9-week seminar class. This seminar is currently planned for the spring semester.
