Strategic Plans
Executive Summary
Inspiring and educating the next generation of Christian thinkers is a high calling and one that is pursued with enthusiasm and commitment at Mount Pisgah Christian School. By providing students with an outstanding college-preparatory Christian education, we strive to be the first choice of those families in North Fulton County and surrounding communities who seek educational excellence and leadership in a personal environment. We serve parents with children from infants through seniors in high school, so the breadth and depth of our relationships with families is critical for success. Leveraging our relationship with Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church, the school offers unique opportunities for growth and development.
The leadership of Mount Pisgah was restructured in 2006 with the expansion of the school’s Board of Trustees, along with the hiring of a new President and a new Director of Finance and Operations. The Trustees added three members to increase the diversity of perspectives and to share the workload. With the rapid growth of the school it was decided that a leader was needed to raise the expectations and resources needed to achieve the vision. Through a nationwide search, Scott Barron was recruited for the new role of President at MPCS. Soon thereafter Ruben Rodriguez was hired to oversee the financial and operational aspects of the school.
Strategic Plan
Another important achievement in 2006 was the development of a comprehensive strategic plan. Utilizing the expertise of North Highlands Group and incorporating input from all stakeholders, a plan was forged through an extensive process of surveys, focus groups, interviews, and research. The result is a practical document that includes confirmation of the school’s mission, a clearly articulated vision with core values, strategic objectives, key measurements for success, and an extensive array of action initiatives.
The school’s Core Values are foundational beliefs that are the driving spirit of this institution and must not be compromised. At Pisgah we believe in offering a program that is Christ-centered, maintaining a culture of remarkable unity, providing a program that reflects excellence, holding each person to high standards of accountability, and making decisions that exhibit the utmost in integrity.
Strategic Objectives
Superior Faculty
Great schools begin with a great faculty. There should be no doubt that the superstars of MPCS are our classroom teachers, and we have been blessed with an outstanding team. Lessons learned here are not limited to academic disciplines—we’re preparing children for life which is why it’s so critical that our faculty serve as the Living Curriculum, modeling the utmost in faith, learning, diligence, perseverance, courage, discipline and leadership.
Financial & Operational Stability
Wise stewardship is a biblical principle that leads to success in the home and at school. The finance department of the school is responsible for accounting, financial reporting, and operational planning and management. This provides an opportunity for the school to optimize efficiencies and improve services. Each department of the school is supported and evaluated to maximize economies of scale and return on investment. This includes benchmarking our performance against schools similar in size and mission.
Deepen Curriculum and Co-curriculum
The scope and sequence of each grade level and each subject area must be intentionally planned and executed to ensure that our students are well prepared, enabling them to move seamlessly to the next grade as they progress through their education at Pisgah. How and when to add more course offerings to strengthen areas like math, reading, technology, and fine arts is also a vital part of the curriculum plan. A strong co-curriculum is also a vital element of our strategy, providing quality opportunities for participation in enrichment classes, clubs, sports, the arts, and community service.
Intimate, Personal Environment
A primary reason parents bring their children to Pisgah is the intimate, personal environment. We share common purpose: to inspire students to think, to love, and to grow. Students enjoy a place where faculty truly care and uphold similar principles and values that they learn at home. The beauty of the Pisgah Experience is that we are building a culture that welcomes and accepts students and parents regardless of their background, enabling them to experience the grace, joy, and wisdom that only comes from God.
Improve Communications
Effective communication is a top priority at Pisgah in support of our core values of unity, accountability, excellence, and integrity. Utilizing the Internet, email, printed materials, newsletters, and other forms of communication, we strive to ensure families have accurate, timely information. The ultimate goal is no secrets—no surprises. For example, regular updates are provided regarding the school’s financial status and plans, the process for student discipline, the admissions process and procedures, upcoming events, and long-term plans. Since listening is also a critical part of communications, we regularly solicit feedback through personal contact, surveys, and parent conferences.
Attract & Retain Mission-Compatible Students
The sixth objective of the Pisgah strategic plan is to retain and attract a mission-compatible student body, providing maximum opportunities for learning and growth for each person. We are intentional in our admissions process as we seek students and families who will thrive within the purpose and structure of this program. Our goal is to be the best size for the best level of service.
Expand Facilities to Support Plans
Pisgah recently began preparing a master campus plan to provide facilities that reflect the quality, safety, and inspiration expected at Pisgah. This includes the three campuses at the intersection of Nesbit Ferry Road and Old Alabama Road, as well as a new sports complex nearby on Brumbelow Road. The latter will be a 32-acre development that will include facilities for football, soccer, track, baseball, softball, and other outdoor sports. Initial construction on the fields has already begun, and the main campus master plan will be completed by the summer of 2007.
Visionary leadership is what has enabled Pisgah to become a respected college preparatory school over the last twenty years. We will continue to build on that solid foundation, delighting families with outstanding programming and services.
